Area Sales Manager, Boats (Quebec)

Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. currently seeks an Area Sales Manager, Boats for our Sales and Marketing Department.

Summary of Responsibilities

To implement Yamaha's sales and marketing policy for an assigned territory and to develop a dealer network capable of attaining corporate marketing objectives and policies for Yamaha Sport Boat, WaveRunner, G3 and Skeeter boats.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Achieve fiscal year sales targets for Yamaha sport boats, WaveRunner, G3 and Skeeter boats. This includes relocating product in the most efficient away to minimize carry over and non-current inventory.
  • Achieve dealer network set up target, by maintaining or replacing existing dealers and appointing new dealers in open areas according to Yamaha and boat companies' direction. All applications are to be 100% complete at the time of submission.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with Yamaha dealers and head office by frequent dealer contact and dealer visits. Complete call reports for every telephone contact or visit on the appropriate form. All Quebec dealers must be visited every 60 days, Maritimes and Newfoundland/Labrador every 180 days. Low volume dealers in highly remote areas should be contacted by telephone should visit not be possible and visited at least once a year.
  • Increase the potential of existing dealers by providing guidance, business advice, and implementation of sales and marketing programs/promotions. Review each sales programs with each dealer for full understanding.
  • Act as a French liaison to support G3, Skeeter boats parts order and warranty inquire from Quebec dealers.
  • Ensure Yamaha products are frequently and effectively promoted through dealer advertising, participation in trade and consumer shows and Yamaha promotions.
  • Play a direct role in all aspects of boat shows, dealer sales training and ongoing consumer interaction within the territory. Submit expense and event reports within 15 days of the occurrence.
  • Complete quarterly sales and market analysis for the territory. Report detailed market trends and activities within 5 business days of the end of each quarter.
  • Follow the provided duties by G3 boats company, submit monthly territory report and prospect report by the first Monday of each month. Complete other requested reports on a timely basis.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Business, Marketing or related field
  • Recreation boating industry and knowledge of Yamaha marine products, 5 to 10 years of experience

Skills and Abilitiles

  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization, planning skills and manage own time effectively
  • Oral and written communication skills with natural ability to build solid working business relationships, fluency in French and English is required
  • The ability to problem-solving and have strong analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information
  • Experience in developing marketing and sales strategies
  • Committed to superior customer service
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • A valid driver's license and boat operator's card
