Technical Specialist - MC, ATV, ROV

Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. currently seeks a candidate for the position of Technical Specialist - MC, ATV, ROV for our Service Department

Position Information

  • Title: Technical Specialist - MC, ATV, ROV

  • Reports to: Assistant National Manager, Technical Service

Summary of Responsibilities

Support the Canadian market by researching and providing technical information on the product lines assigned. Offer technical support to the staff / other departments and completing the technical service and training function.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze and report market information to appropriate groups such as YMC, YMUS, YMMC and outside manufacturers/vendors. Compile the market technical issues for each of the designated products groups and provide the standardized and prioritized report as per the monthly schedule set by management.
  • Prepare new model update materials and YTA service seminar materials from information provided by factories or other distributors. Coordinate the distribution of the training materials to the field staff. Assist in the classroom to provide all prepared materials and topics to staff and dealers to enhance the training delivery at YMCA. Provide technical assistance to training material developers.
  • Assist other staff in all departments by researching technical information and providing market support for dealer assistance, legal matters, parts problems, accessory development, customer relations resolutions or training purposes. This includes market visits, B2B projects, PME project assistance, support for accessory development and product planning. Provide mentoring of technical skills to other service staff.
  • Coordinate the production for technical bulletins and tips for the dealer body from Measure reports and TSI received from factories. Prepare internal service memorandums as required for YMCA service staff.
  • Participate in and report on the field testing and product evaluations including competitive product to further develop personal knowledge and increase expertise.
  • Serve as member of the Product Planning Committees and as a member of college and government committees.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma:High school diploma. Valid motorcycle mechanic certification.
  • Years of Experience: 3 + years of experience.
  • Type of Experience: Motorsport or industry experience

Skills & Abilities

  • Travel to support technical investigations, marketing, dealer and consumer shows.
  • Travel to various factories for training or test locations for product testing.
