Link-type rear suspension utilizes a single shock absorber to provide ride comfort, traction and stability over a wide range of applications. Smooth, consistent rear wheel movement is provided by a linkage system normally connecting the bottom of the shock absorber to the swingarm through a series of links or linkages. The linkage system provides a progressive action to the suspension. It provides a soft initial rate for absorbing small bumps and then becomes progressively stiffer as the shock travel is used up over larger bumps. This improves road-holding ability and increases rider comfort. The lever ratios will vary depending on the amount of rear wheel travel and the model / application that it is intended for.
