Lorenzo and Rossi Endure A Race of Attrition in Le Mans (2013-05-19)

Yamaha Factory Racing riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi endured a nightmare race today in the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. Having enjoyed a dry track for both practice and qualifying the riders had to contend with full wet conditions to start today's race. Lorenzo started from second on the grid and was able to hold behind race leader Andrea Dovizioso initially until passed by Dani Pedrosa with 26 laps to go. As the laps wound down the reigning World Champion gradually dropped position, fighting a wet but slowly drying track with a less than optimum set up. Lorenzo eventually crossed the line in seventh place to claim nine Championship points that keep him in third position in the overall standings.

Monster Energy Yamahas invade the leaderboard in Brazil (2013-05-19)

Monster Energy Yamaha riders on YZ250F machinery captured three positions in the top seven of the Grand Prix of Brazil at the immaculate Beto Carrero circuit for what was the seventh stop of seventeen on the FIM Motocross World Championship schedule. 45,000 spectators created a boisterous and exciting atmosphere for the final overseas event of the calendar.

Roelants making progress with 9th overall in Brazil (2013-05-19)

For the second year in a row the incredible setting of Beto Carrero hosted a wet Grand Prix of Brazil and Monster Energy Yamaha's Joel Roelants was able to take his factory YZ450FM to ninth position overall. 45,000 spectators filled the grandstands around one of the most impressive set-ups in the FIM Motocross World Championship and the raucous and passionate fans created a noisy and lively atmosphere for this seventh round of seventeen in the series.

Yamaha Head to France for Le Mans (2013-05-14)

Yamaha Factory Racing heads to France this week for the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France at the historic Le Mans circuit on Sunday, 19th May. The classic French track has a history littered with the victories of both Yamaha riders, Jorge Lorenzo can claim three premier class wins and one 250cc GP victory whilst Valentino Rossi also claims three premier class victories and one 125cc GP win.

Lowes and Yamaha Triumph with Victory and Championship Lead in Monza (2013-05-13)

Yakhnich Yamaha Motorsport rider Sam Lowes delivered a stunning victory yesterday in a drama filled Monza World Supersport race punctuated by no less than three red flag incidents. The young British rider had started from pole on his Yamaha YZF-R6, his eighth career pole and third consecutive of the 2013 season. Having fallen as an innocent victim in the first of several major on-track incidents Lowes was able to restart and became the key protagonist in the 10lap sprint that became the last re-start of the Supersport race. Victory had looked in doubt on the penultimate lap as Lowes dropped to fourth however a stunning pass on the brakes going into the Della Roggia chicane put the Brit passed Florian Marino, Lorenzo Zanetti and Riccardo Russo to secure the lead which he held to the line.

Lorenzo Leads as European Grand Prix Action Kicks Off in Jerez (2013-05-03)

The first European Grand Prix weekend of the 2013 season, The Gran Premio bwin de España, got underway today at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Southern Spain. Yamaha Factory Racing's Jorge Lorenzo started his first home Grand Prix of the year as he means to go on, one of the fastest riders of the morning he waited until the last second to retake the top spot in first practice. The afternoon saw more of the same from the reigning World Champion, Lorenzo leading from the start of the session and remaining unchallenged to the end, wrapping up in first position 0.171 seconds ahead of satellite Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow in second.

Lorenzo Takes 100th MotoGP Podium in Texas (2013-04-21)

Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo took third position on the podium today in the Grand Prix of The Americas, his 100th career podium finish. A less than perfect start from third on the front row saw the current World Champion lose position approaching turn one but he was quick to come back as the race settled in. Lorenzo was able to maintain third position to the finish line, holding distance to fellow Yamaha Cal Crutchlow behind in fourth and close down the gap to the front to just over three seconds at the flag. The result delivers an incredible 100th podium finish for the four-time World Champion ten years after he scored his first with victory in Brazil in 2003. The sixteen points brings his 2013 season total to 41 after two races, joint with Championship leader Marc Marquez and places him in second in the standings.

Italian GP blow for MX1 Monster Energy Yamaha duo (2013-04-14)

The fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship at the Arco di Trento circuit in Italy could not count on the presence of Steven Frossard and Joel Roelants. The intense pace and demands of the Italian soil was too much for Frossard's recently operated left foot. The pin in the metatarsal was causing unexpected nerve pain to the former Italian Champion's extremity despite medication and the use of a protective plate in his boot. Frossard attempted several laps in practice but realized he needs some more recovery time after surgery last week to get into race trim. He expects to be back in the paddock for the Grand Prix of Portugal in three weeks. Roelants suffered a crash during qualifying that left the former GP winner feeling dazed and nursing a sore shoulder, which ruled him out of Sunday's motos.

Italian GP blow for MX1 Monster Energy Yamaha duo (2013-04-13)

The fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place tomorrow at the Arco di Trento circuit in Italy but will not count on the presence of Steven Frossard and Joel Roelants. The compact and jump-laden layout north of Lake Garda saw some sunny conditions for the first day of practice but both the Frenchman and the Belgian incurred some injury misfortune.

Yamaha Kick Off Title Challenge with Victory in British Superbike (2013-04-08)

Yamaha's campaign to take the 2013 MCE British Superbike Championship and Motorpoint Supersport Championship titles began in style yesterday at Brands Hatch with race wins in both classes. Milwaukee Yamaha Team rider James Ellison celebrated his return to BSB in style, starting from pole position in race two, the British rider was only temporarily checked by rival Shane Byrne before recovering the lead on lap two and holding it to the line for his first race win of the year aboard the YZF-R1. Ellison was clearly working well with the R1, delivering the fastest lap of the race in both race one and two. A small mistake in race one resulting in no points puts Ellison into fourth place in the Championship with 25 points as they head for round two at the Thruxton Circuit next weekend. Ellison's teammate Josh Waters made an encouraging start to his first ever British Superbike season, the double Australian Superbike Champion taking tenth in the first race as he got to grips with the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

Yamaha Lead the Way as MotoGP Begins in Qatar (2013-04-04)

The opening round of the 2013 MotoGP Championship began this evening at the Losail Circuit in Qatar. The first free practice wound up with Yamaha leading the class and dominating the top of the time sheets. Reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was quick to find a set up on his YZR-M1 and spent the session challenging within the top few positions. As the track conditions improved in the last ten minutes so did the times, the Mallorcan taking the top spot in the last two minutes and increasing speed again to finish with an impressive 1'56.685. Teammate Valentino Rossi's first race weekend back on the YZR-M1 began in style this evening, the Italian nine-time MotoGP Champion took almost immediate possession of the number one spot on the timesheets and was only rarely troubled there throughout the session. Only teammate Lorenzo and fellow Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow were able to contend for the fastest time, with all three ending the session within one tenth of a second from each other.

The long winter wait is over as Yamaha Factory Racing prepare this week for the first race of the 2013 MotoGP season, The Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar under the floodlights of the Losail International Circuit. 2012 European Champion Mel Pocock defied a dramatic qualification heat on Sunday at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands to bravely race to 7th position overall at a cold and busy Valkenswaard circuit, packed with 27,000 spectators. The Monster Energy Yamaha man was struck from his machine through the tricky opening corners and also ran into another racer during the twenty-minute outing but buried his discomfort on Easter Monday to roar away from the start line on his YZ250F and record finishes of 10th and 9th in the motos.

Lorenzo Leads The Way as Final Pre-Season Test Begins at Jerez (2013-03-25)

Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo kicked off day one of three of the final pre-season test of 2013 at the front, leading the MotoGP field by over a second in the time sheets. Following a successful team launch yesterday, today's first day of action was a disappointing affair for the MotoGP riders with black clouds, heavy rains and a waterlogged track hampering testing efforts. Despite the adverse weather Lorenzo managed to achieve 33 laps whilst working on the wet set up of his YZR-M1, achieving a competitive set up fairly quickly.

Yamaha One Two as Rossi Returns to the Top in Jerez (2013-03-25)

The second day of the final pre-season MotoGP test was again played out in difficult weather conditions yesterday with riders having to splash through a water-filled morning before being able to enjoy some dry track time later in the afternoon. Valentino Rossi was finally given the conditions that allowed him to show his pleasure at being back on the YZR-M1. In the afternoon's dry spell and on a European circuit he knows well, the nine time Champion rose quickly to the top of the timesheets, staying there until the close of the day and reminding everyone that the special relationship between 'the doctor' and the M1 has not lost its magic.

Ferris set for quick recovery (2013-03-18)

The Australian will today have an operation on a broken right collarbone, sustained in a crash while running in the top five of the opening meeting of the Dutch Motocross Championship at Halle.

Yamaha Dominates as the AMA Season Kicks Off at Daytona (2013-03-17)

The Yamaha YZF-R6 and YZF-R1 proved to be the machines to beat last weekend at Daytona Beach as the 2013 AMA season got underway on the Daytona International Speedway. The title race of the weekend, The Daytona 200 AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike, run for the 72nd time, is a 57lap 'endurance' race with riders allowed to pit stop.

Yamaha Completes Testing in Texas (2013-03-13)

Yamaha Factory Racing will complete their testing activities today at the Circuit of Americas track in Texas. Originally planned for a three-day test, riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi managed to provide all the data required over the first two days so will not continue tomorrow. Both Lorenzo and Rossi used the two days to work with their crews on set up to find the optimum performance from their YZR-M1s' for the long and technical track. The two made big improvements from the first morning, shaving several seconds off their first times but were still looking for more grip at full lean.

Roelants improving after Thai MXGP (2013-03-10)

A steaming Grand Prix of Thailand saw Monster Energy Yamaha's Joel Roelants continue to improve and adapt to the nuances of the premier MX1 class of the FIM Motocross World Champion and also get back up to the top level. The former MX2-GP winner grasped 10th and 7th positions for 7th overall at Si Racha to better his 13th from the previous week in Qatar.

Under lights, in the Middle East and working through the maiden 'Superfinal' of GP racing Steven Frossard emerged from a novel opener to score ninth position overall on his factory YZ450FM while new team-mate Joel Roelants was fourteenth.

Yamaha Wraps Up Sepang in Challenging Weather Conditions (2013-02-28)

Yamaha Factory Racing today completed an exhaustive three days of testing at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, the second official IRTA test at the track. Wet weather at the start of the day followed by a drying track and extreme heat temperatures delivered challenging conditions for riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. Despite the heat, Lorenzo used the final day to complete a long race simulation, gathering valuable data for the engineers. The reigning MotoGP World Champion recorded the fastest wet time in the morning, signing off the final test day in third position with 2'00.992 seconds, 0.43 from first. Lorenzo recorded the fastest lap time of the test overall with yesterday's blistering 2'00.282 seconds.

Lorenzo Leads the Way on Day Two Sepang (2013-02-27)

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo topped the time sheets today for day two of the second official IRTA test at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Lorenzo was fast straight out of the box in the morning and remained unchallenged all day. Track conditions had improved from yesterday's first run, allowing the champion to get down to a lap time of 2'00.282 seconds, nearly 1.5 seconds faster than yesterday's quickest time set by Dani Pedrosa.

Rain Hampers Return to Sepang (2013-02-26)

Yamaha Factory Racing were back in Malaysia today for the first day of the second official test of the 2013 season at the Sepang International Circuit. The riders were able to test throughout the morning but were then forced to call off the remainder of the day's testing due to rain. Reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was again quick to get up to pace, managing to complete a total of 25 laps before retiring for the day in second position, 0.235 seconds from first. The Mallorcan spent the day focusing on bike set up in the search for better acceleration from his M1.

Sam Lowes Strikes in Phillip Island with Yamaha (2013-02-24)

Sam Lowes made an impressive start to his World Supersport season aboard the Yakhnich Yamaha YZF-R6 in Phillip Island today, taking second on the podium in the shortened 15lap race. The young British rider started from the front having taken a blistering pole position yesterday in qualifying, over half a second clear of 2012 world Champion Kenan Sofuoglu with a 1'32.545. Sofuoglu led into turn one, but Lowes was quick to come back, passing in the second lap to regain the lead. The two went on to battle it out with countless passes over the fifteen laps, Sofuoglu finally getting the upper hand and winning by less than two seconds from Lowes.

Monster Energy Yamaha almost ready to go! (2013-02-21)

A crowd of several hundred thousand braved cold and strong winds on the north French coast of Le Touquet and were able to witness a Yamaha 1-2-3 across the podium of the 8th Enduropale. Victorious for the second year in a row was native Jean Claude Mousse, who clinched the top spot on his YZ450F by over a minute from Milko Potisek with Belgian Adrien Van Beveren in third place.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Dream Team Touch Down in Indonesia (2013-01-25)

Yamaha Factory Racing superstars Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi made their first appearance together as reunited teammates today in Jakarta, Indonesia. The two riders will spend two days attending a number of activities. Today they helped to launch the new logo for one of the factory team's key sponsors, Semakin di Depan (Yamaha Motor Indonesia) at a morning press conference in Jakarta. Lorenzo and Rossi were joined by Yamaha Motor Racing's Managing Director Lin Jarvis to reveal the logo to the assembled international media. They then went on to spend the afternoon shooting a television commercial for Yamaha Motor Indonesia.

Double Bike Top Ten and Quad Victory for Yamaha in 2013 Dakar (2013-01-19)

Yamaha Racing France's Olivier Pain completed the final stage of the 2013 Dakar Rally in eighth place to hold on just outside the top five in sixth in the final standings. Verhoeven Scores with Victory on Stage 12 of Dakar (2013-01-17)

Yamaha Netherlands Verhoeven Team rider Frans Verhoeven made it count today, expertly dispatching the 12th stage of the 2013 Dakar Rally to take a much deserved victory aboard his 450 Yamaha machine. The Dutch rider excelled on a stage that over 319km contained sand, stones, rocks, rio's and dunes. In a touching tribute Verhoeven dedicated his first stage victory of the 2013 Dakar to former Yamaha France Dakar legend Jean-Claude Olivier who tragically passed away last week. The result places Verhoeven in seventh position and closes the gap to fellow Yamaha rider Olivier Pain who came home in tenth position today and moves up to sixth, less than two minutes ahead of the Dutchman.

Verhoeven Attacks the Top Ten on Day 11 of Dakar (2013-01-16)

Today's 11th stage of the 2013 Dakar Rally proved to be another impressive one for Yamaha Netherlands Verhoeven Team rider Frans Verhoeven. The day's action took the riders through more sand dunes, then on to pass the eastern slopes of the Andes mountains. The Dutchman was on top form on his YZ450F based machine, attacking the hugely varied conditions of the 191km stage (shortened from an original 220km by organisers) from La Rioja to Fiambalá, finishing in 11th to jump an impressive five places up the overall standings and break solidly into the top ten, from 13th to eighth.

Verhoeven Steps Closer to Top Ten on Tenth Dakar Stage (2013-01-15)

Dutch Yamaha Netherlands Verhoeven Team rider Frans Verhoeven took another step closer to the top ten riders today, moving two places up the overall standings to 13th. The tenth stage of the Dakar Rally saw Verhoeven tackling a very tight and twisty special, a 357km run from Cordoba to La Rioja. The Dutch rider kept a good pace whilst trying to avoid dizziness from the incredible number of tight turns on the course, completing the day's stage in tenth place. The result brings him to a 59 minute gap to first place.

Joel Roelants getting to grips with his new Monster Energy Yamaha (2013-01-14)

While many were gorging on Christmas food over the holidays new Monster Energy Yamaha recruit Joel Roelants was putting in the miles across the cold sand of Dunkirk and enjoying his first outings in Yamaha colours and on the YZ450F. Yamaha Back on Form on Day Seven of Dakar (2013-01-11)

After a difficult sixth day yesterday, Yamaha riders Olivier Pain and Frans Verhoeven were back running with the front pack in today's stage, Calama to Salta. Today's action took place above 3,300 metres, adding extra physical challenge for the already exhausted riders. Yamaha Take The Top Spots on Day Four of Dakar 2013 (2013-01-09)

The fourth day of the 2013 Dakar Rally saw strong performances from Yamaha riders Olivier Pain and David Casteu, taking them to first and second respectively in the overall standings. Yamaha Racing France rider Pain has been gradually moving up the standings with strong rides and completed today's 429km special stage in second on his YZ450F based machine, just over eight minutes from the fastest rider. Team Casteu Yamaha Racing France rider Casteu has also been using his Yamaha to good effect, steadily moving through the competition. Casteu finished today's stage in third, just over two minutes behind Pain.

Yamaha Continue to Set Dominant Dakar Pace (2013-01-09)

As day five of the 2013 Dakar Rally draws to a close it does so with the YZ450F based Yamahas of Frenchmen David Casteu and Olivier Pain having raced ahead to again set the pace in the special stage. The 274km trek from Arequipa and Arica became Team Casteu Yamaha Racing France rider Casteu's third Dakar stage victory. Yamaha Racing France's Pain was just one minute behind him to make it a Yamaha one-two. The results keep Pain at the top of the overall standings with Casteu just one minute behind him, and then a further six minutes to the next rider.

Yamaha Factory Racing Looks to the Future with Monster Energy Partnership (2013-01-08)

Verhoeven Makes Impressive Start to Dakar 2013 (2013-01-05)

Yamaha Netherlands Verhoeven rider Frans Verhoeven made a promising start to his 2013 Dakar Rally today on his Yamaha YZ450F based machine, wrapping up the first stage in second place, an impressive single second behind the leader. Verhoeven had looked on course to lead the standings on day one with a time of 7'52 on the special stage until rival Francisco Lopez came in nearly 20 minutes later with 7'51. Joining him in the top ten was fellow Yamaha rider David Casteu, the Frenchman, representing the Casteu Adventure Team, completing the first stage in sixth place, just 15 seconds behind the front.
